The demand for German and European IT alternatives is growing – and for good reason. A report in the ARD Morgenmagazin on May 8, 2025, titled “Digital Sovereignty: Growing Demand for German IT Solutions,” highlighted precisely this topic: how Europe can achieve digital independence – and what role local providers play in this.
Our COO Nina-Sophie Sczepurek had the opportunity to present our perspective in this report: the growing skepticism towards non-European cloud services and the necessity to strengthen trustworthy, European infrastructures – in line with our values, laws, and security requirements.

Why companies are reorienting themselves
As the ARD report shows, American tech giants have dominated the European digital market for years – but the protectionist economic policies of the USA (e.g., under President Trump) have prompted a rethink. More and more companies want to break free from this dependency.
A crucial point: The US Cloud Act allows US authorities access to data from American companies – even if this data is physically stored in Europe. For many European companies, this is a clear contradiction to our data protection standards and the GDPR. Those who rely on US cloud providers today are potentially exposing themselves to foreign control – with incalculable risks for sensitive data.
The general uncertainty regarding transatlantic data agreements, such as the temporarily overturned “Privacy Shield,” also leads companies to seek reliable and legally secure solutions within Europe.
Our contribution to digital self-determination
At leitzcloud by vBoxx we have always focused on sovereignty and data protection. Our infrastructure is based entirely on ISO-certified data centers in Germany, is exclusively subject to European law, and fully complies with the requirements of the GDPR.
This means concretely: no data transfer to third countries, no unclear legal situation, no hidden backdoors – but complete control over data and systems. We operate our platforms ourselves, without intermediaries or subcontractors outside the EU.
We are seeing steadily growing interest from companies and public institutions seeking reliable, secure, and transparent IT solutions from Europe. This is not just about compliance – but also about control, future viability, and trust in one’s own digital infrastructure.
A frequent concern of our customers, for example, is how they can securely map confidential business processes in a cloud environment. Our answer to this is a clearly structured hosting and security concept that combines encryption, access control, and full auditability – all within Europe.
Looking ahead
Digital sovereignty is not an abstract concept, but a central building block for Europe’s economic and social stability. It’s not just about where data is stored, but who has access to it – and who does not.
The political discourse at the EU level – for example, around the Data Act or Gaia-X – shows that a change is already underway. But it also requires concrete, capable providers to implement this change. This is precisely where we see our role.
At leitzcloud by vBoxx, we are committed to a self-determined digital infrastructure that aligns with European values. Independent, legally compliant, and future-proof.
For a strong, digital Europe – with solutions from Europe.
